Rudolf from Elisabeth (Takarazuka-version) [02 Nov 2006|12:57pm]

I am planning to make a Rudolf-cosplay from the musical "Elisabeth". I want to do the Takarazuka-version, but I have no idea where I could find a jacket to use as a basis or a pattern to sew such a jacket. Can anybody help me?
(I am sorry I have no picture, but I am still searching for one)

Tanz der Vampire [11 Oct 2006|06:26pm]

Hi everyone!

I am new here and I thought it would be a nice idea to present the costumes that I have done so far to you.
Maybe some of you know the German musical "Tanz der Vampire"? Well, I love it, so my first costume was one from this musical. It's one of Herbert's outfits, the gay son of the count.

Herbert von Krolock - bathroom outfitCollapse )

My second costume was also one of Herbert's outfits, the one he wears in the final song.

Herbert von Krolock - final sceneCollapse )

I am sorry that the pics are not really good, I will look for some better ones soon. I hope one can see enough on these ones.

If anyone knows this character and the original costumes, what do you think about mine?

Help! [20 Mar 2006|02:10pm]

[ mood | a wee bit cool *shiver* ]

Hello all,

I'm new to this community, but I believe some people here might already know me from years past. I'm Volta, apparently. *points to club-icon* ;) Used to go by the name of Kirsty.

Anyway, I need some help, if possible. I'm going to attempt to make Film-Bombalurina and -Quaxo and I have... *glances* two discouragingly WHITE unitards on my hands, and while I'm quite confident of the painting and fluffing up of these, even more discouraging than their whiteness is the lack of wigs, tails and legwarmers.
I believe I might just manage the wigs, if someone tells me how to. (How to? :))
Warmers? Erm. I thought of charity-shop-raiding for large articles of white knitted clothing for those, cutting these apart, sewing them back together and painting them, as I don't trust myself to be able to re-learn knitting well enough.. would that work? Or any other hints on how to make them?
Otherwise, if I absolutely can't make these things, maybe someone could make me Bomba and Quaxo's warmers and tails, or is selling their old ones, or just has plain white ones I could paint on... that'd be so lovely. I'm in the UK, for shipping, and I'd pay, of course. :) Same goes for wigs, actually, if someone's seeking to get rid of their old ones, provided they fit.

Thanks for any help! :)

Costume-ish questions. [12 Mar 2006|05:23pm]

For anyone who can help me, I have some extremely random questions involving the chandelier and the Phantom's shoes. I have links instead of pictures, but I figured I should put it under a cut anyway. Yes,Collapse )

So...any advice, comments, or questions are welcome, even if you just want to tell me I'm too crazy for my own good. =^n.n^=

Calender Idea [27 Dec 2005|09:58pm]

[ mood | ecstatic ]

I've posted this at the CATS Fan Costume Forum, and wanted to toss it up here as well. I want to try and do a fund raiser for Make A Wish Foundation and use a costuming calender to do it.

Basically it's going to be a collection of original fan cat costumes themed to each month. For example: I'm planning a December cat based on Christmas. She's named Yuletide and is red, white and green, and quite fluffy. saffity has a plan for a March cat based on St. Patrick's Day who is green and decorated with Celtic designs.

The months that haven't had people asking for them yet are: May, June, August and either September or November (one costumer has a cat for either September or November depending on if someone wants to pick one or the other). If I get a lot of interest, I may end up doubling up months to include more than one cat.

If people here are intersted just leave a comment and I'll post a full set of guidlines. If you'd like to pick a month, also leave a comment and I'll confirm it with you later.

Miss Saigon Cosplay [11 Dec 2005|11:52am]

[ mood | giggly ]

I thought I would share this picture that Lionel took of me when I cosplayed as Kim (Miss Saigon) at Yaoi Con.

I got the ao dai in a San Jose store for about $60. Relatives say I look like Lea Salonga, but what Pilipino don't compare to their adolescant daughter to Lea Salonga, right?

Costumes For Sale! [04 Oct 2005|12:31am]

[ mood | hopeful ]

I'm selling my Stuttgart Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie costumes on eBay. If the Buy It Now price is used, I'm tossing in the song costumes as well.

These are two of the best costumes that I've ever done. The coloring, by erikonil, is absolutely lovely and are nice and bright. They've only been worn a few times and are in good condition.

Newbie [05 Sep 2005|08:09pm]

[ mood | creative ]

Hi there! I'm Reiko and I'm currently working on making a US Tour 5 Sillabub costume. At the moment, I'm working on the tail.

Okay, so far I have:

-3 different colors of Red Heart yarn from Wal-Mart (white, black and a deep red)
-A spiky collar from Wal-Mart (found amoungst the halloween stuff)
-3 fabric markers from Jo-Anne's
-an 8 ft. cord from Jo-Anne's

I think I'm doing pretty good. >3 I'm going to be getting my unitard from Discount Danceware (since ADA has let me down). It's about the same amount of money so...yeah. I am shocked to say that I didn't see any Halloween make-up at Wal-Mart, but I'm bound to find some nearer to October.

Here's a little photo of the materials I have.

Read more...Collapse )

I don't remember the name of the cord, but it's got mesh over it. I guess I'm trying to figure out if it's better to braid a cord from the yarn I have or to use the cord I bought from Jo-Anne's. Each thing of yarn is 364 yrds. Would that be enough to braid into a cord and use it to make the tail AND maybe the arm warmers?

Phantom costuming [07 Mar 2005|01:26pm]

[ mood | creative ]

I am eccentric. *GRIN* I also love to create.
I just purchased an amazing new sewing machine, which does 70 different stitches and stitch functions. It's my new love! ^_^
And so...since I got tickets to OPENING NIGHT of Phantom of the Opera in Boston (March 30th), I decided to go all-out and make Christine's Wishing dress from the live show! I am psyched, since I'll be in the third row (yay! XD), and am going to make jewelry (Swarovski crystal, Venetian glass, etc.) for at LEAST my Christine, and cards for the other main actors/actresses, etc.

I am using Butterick pattern 4315. My GOD, what a ridiculous amount of material I had to use!! O___O I bought over 12 yards of this gorgeous blue fabric, a nice, textured matte, deep black, and tons of ribbon and lace! I finally cut the pieces (I *hate* cutting...if anyone else sews, ever cut huge pieces, and barely have a place in your house big enough to lay out all the fabric and patterns, and end up having to move furniture to do so?? >_o heh). I'm so hyped for it!

Oh, here's a picture of the pattern I am using:
(It looks ridiculous if you don't have an imagination.... *grin* The finished picture here shows more of a vampiric costume. ;) )

Pattern 4315

Now, get a GREAT look at the actual finished product here:
Errr, minus the ridiculously vampiric/Marie Antoinette collar ;)

See here!

I just have two hopes:

#1: I'm short. I'm 5'2-3"! (Haha...one doctor said I was 5'3", almost all others say I'm 5'2"! I like the 3" label better! XD). I hope the dress isn't ridiculously long! It'll be a pain in the tush to have to go back over the entire bottom and shorten after I'm done.
(And whether short or long, I hope it doesn't rain or snow too much!!! I don't want the bottom to be ruined!! XD)

#2: I'm not thin! *laughs* The model in the picture is probably between an American woman's size 8-12 somewhere. Not skinny, but not large. She could also be wearing heavy undergarments. But oh well. So, my hope is that the contrast between the waist and the huuuuuge bottom won't be as gigantic on me! XD heehee....I am going to be sitting in a theatre, remember...so I don't want the skirts to overflow into the laps of the people sitting beside me! ^_~

So....wish me luck.

And ever done anything like this? Tell me all about it!! =D

CATS At Neko Con [07 Nov 2004|01:52pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

Heya all! Just getting back from a fun night at NekoCon that was held in Chesapeake, VA this year. Memphis and Saffity joined me and Erikonil this year and we all went as characters from the Stuttgart production of CATS. So, without further ado, here is a short photo-montage of the day.

Well, before the day started there was a long night. We thought we'd be done with the costumes the night before, but my sewing machine decided to throw a hissy fit and we didn't get around to actually sewing until around four in the morning. Thankfully, Memphis, Saff and our friend from work, Heather, all got a little sleep.

The Great Rumpus Cat! [18 Apr 2004|02:00am]

Rumpus Cat (as Alonzo is known in Japan) has a nice looking wig. Here's one that I made. It's not totally done yet, since I have to travel with it and I'm going to finish the styling once it gets to its new home.

Aww. Kind of sad. No one posts here anymore. :|

I've just got a few things to say. I'm going to begin working on my Ashley costume (from Starlight Express) of course, and I was wondering if any of you had any tips on fabric and the like? Would be most appreciated.

(This is sort of related, I just made a Starlight Express community. starlight_ex. Sorry if promoting isn't allowed. Irk.)

Yay! my first entry [23 Nov 2003|01:29am]

[ mood | blah ]

Welp I didn't want to post anything really until I had a picture to show for it.

So... This is my Components on Campus version of Joule. *grin* Unfortunately, I rushed the wig, the cap fit when I origionally made it, but when I got to brushing it I suddenly realized that it was half the origional size.

This caused much spazzing and panic on my part. Luckily, my brother remembered a raver wig I'd recently bought and asked if that would work... so I wore it instead...

I very much want to wear this again with an actual Joule wig, but this will do for now.

The shirt and skirt I've had for a bit (hello kitty shirt no less) I drew on the stockings to give them smiley faces, and added the garters. The backpack (which you can't see) is Strawberry Shortcake, and has one of my teddy bears sticking out of it, and the binder is covered with ComC Pics and had some more pics and sample comics inside it.

I also handed out business cards that I made to people who were interested >.<

Course security had a field day with my skates "They'll wreck the carpet"... *sigh* oh well, at least I got a few pics with them on.

All in all it was a fun day, tho I must say that one day anime conventions are pants! They're ok as get togethers with your friends, but as conventions they suck!

*grin* I had smiley faces on my legs for 3 days.. but c'est la vie.

hope you guys like it, and critiques are appreciated
